I Like Most Things Swedish

The Weezer concert is over (awesome, btw), my roommates are having a party, and I am completely uninterested. So, like the a-hole that I am, I'm sitting in my room with a handful of pretzels and the remnants of a whiskey sour. And I'm taking this opportunity to share with you the 5 or so wonderful things I found this morning while I was also trying to write a rebuttal essay for my argumentative writing class. Here we go:

"Self Reliance"
So basically I like what Rob Hodgson has going on.
But also, his site has brought up a question I've been wondering about lately. You see, as a senior graphic design major, I'm going to be starting to put together my final portfolio, but I also should have a web presence with that portfolio, and while Rob's work is on his blog, it also is on a site called Cargo Collective  which is a site specifically for creative portfolios. I'm currently working on uploading my work to the Behance network (a similar site) but really, how many different places do I need to have my work?

A really cute kid's magazine. Via It's Nice That.

Wedding invitations to a marriage between an Indian man and a French Canadian woman. They felt their union should come with a how-to guide. And that's what these are. Funny, adorable, useful.

This is the most intense interactive infographic of all time, I'm almost sure of it.
This site scans blogs for phrases about feelings and then also skims information about the author, such as gender, location, weather, and the actual feeling, and then puts it into this medium. The medium has 6 phases, or ways of rearranging the information....maybe you should just go to the site and read what they have to say, because I'm sure they do a better job of explaining.
Or you can just go play around.

5/ First Aid Kit

This is First Aid Kit's Ghost Town. And it's pretty amazing. They're Swedish sisters and I like em a lot.

Other Swedish things I'm fond of include, but are not limited to:
Swedish Fish
H&M
and
Astrid Lindgren (Pippi Longstocking)

Just a Lil Quickie

I bought these Dav rain boots the other day on Haute Look ($30, originally $80...steal!) and they should be arriving in the mail aaaaany day now.
Try not to be jealous.

Also, a friend of mine recently got married and she posted a link to her wedding photos, done by Blue Dandelion Photography ...and they're really good! I mean, she's adorable so that helps. But the images of the location and just the style are amazing too.
Look at the rest of them here!  (there are also some cute baby pictures...)

Things I Learn at the Movies

So awhile ago I meant to post about the film When Harry Met Sally  because, well, it's a GREAT movie, but also because I kind of wanted to steal all of Sally's clothing. (Especially at the beginning when she is wearing denim shorts, loafers, a button-up, and a blue cardigan, and we all know how amazing loafers and cardigans are. Plus, her hair is awesome.)
What's NOT to love about this??
Anywhoser, that's really all I wanted to say about Harry and Sally, but last night I went to see a newww movie (Going the Distance) and I had a similar reaction. I want to live in Drew Barrymore's wardrobe (minus the camouflage pants and bow-tie necklace).
loose-fitting tees
knotted chain necklace
slouchy trousers
crisp blazers

And that enormous bag she was toting around as an intern? I rulllly want it. I think that might have been the first thing I said about the movie. Other things I loved about the movie? Well let me tell you...

1/ The Boxer Rebellion
I'm not really sure how I missed these guys before, but they're rul good.
And pretty adorable.

2/ Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day
I think most of you know that I am in love with Charlie Day. I shouldn't have to explain why.

What you may not know, because I just recently found out myself, is that I have a similar love for Jason Sudeikis. Except really my attraction to Jason Sudeikis is more sexual, and my love for Charlie Day is like I would want to keep him as a pet. Mostly, I think I'm in lust with Jason Sudeikis's mustache.

3/ That fine British man
Oliver Jackson-Cohen
This really is my only discrepancy with the movie: How did Drew Barrymore's character NOT fuck the shit out of this guy? He's hot and British. Duh.

On a more personal note:
I just bought my first, very own pair of haram pants and I believe they have opened the floodgates. I now want more and more and more of them. Also I'm going to need to invest in some moderately comfortable heels to accessorize them with, and possibly some new tees. Preferable with sparkly adornments.
Also:
I just finished my very first editions of my very first linoleum cut prints and will hopefully be sharing them with my readership of two allll you lovely people who read this junk.

Photoblogs Galore

I'm not going to start this post with an apology for not posting. Other people are going to do it for me:
Now onto more important things.
1/ Convoy

A photoblog that defines itself as an "Evergrowing collection of stuff I like". And it's stuff I like too. The one issue is that it's a Tumblr blog...and I am a blogspot blogger. This one has me contemplating conversion.

2/ Street Peeper
Oslo
Chicago
New York
Photoblog that posts images of street fashion from cities like Oslo, Berlin, Amsterdam, London, New York, Tokyo, and even Chicago.

3/ Ruche

Haha, got ya! This isn't a photoblog at all! It's not even a blog! IT'S A STORE! BECAUSE I LOVE SHOPPING! Especially for things I can't afford. Which is most things. That aside, they have some really cute shit.

4/ Flourpot

Aha! Got you again! This is also not a blog. But it is some goooood packaging design! Brought to my attention via TheDieline.

Ok, that's enough for now, I need to dome some good old fashioned HOMEWORK in the way of picking out an opinionated article I disagree with/know something about. So...if any of you happen to know something I feel strongly about in the news, please, fill me in on that secret.
