I fully intend to (someday) post some of my own work, but for now I'm just going to stick to passing on inspiration I've found.

Sculptural Photography

"Sculptural Photography" is a collaboration between photographer Szymon Roginski and Kasia Korzeniecka and I absolutely love it. I mean first of all, Szymon's photographs are beautiful, and the way they're folded and then layered just puts them over the top. I can't stop staring. 

The Heidelberg Project is "the result of artist Tyree Guyton's 24-year-strong mission to inspire a fading community" (Cool Hunting) in a Detroit neighborhood. 

Sam Winston's Made Up True Stories. I don't think I even need to say anything, but I just love the way Winston incorporates words and/or numbers into a lot of his work. 

Movie poster featuring Joaquin Phoenix...what a beast.

I love the way Joaquin Phoenix looks on the poster for his new movie I'm Still Here. What a nutso. Plus I've heard the movie is supposed to be pretty insane (something about sexual harassment lawsuits?) Which only makes me want to see it more.

Today, I had my first day of Printmaking class. Which I'm pretty excited about so I immediately started researching prints (I did get distracted by this post pretty quickly though...) and these are some that I especially liked. Maybe I will be able to post my own prints by the end of the semester. Maybe.

I Like The Looks of This

Lots of times, when I'm spending my life on the internet, I see things that I just like to look at. Like I want to stare at them forever and ever. I mean, I don't. But I want to. These are some of these things.

1. I don't really remember where I found this (sorry, whoever made it) but I like it!

2. I also have little to no idea where this vintage poster reminding you to keep track of your belongings came from, but it's pretty cute.

3. Ok, this book cover isn't the most exciting to look at, but I like the title. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure these three might have come from a Flikr set. I hope I don't get in trouble with the makers of these fine specimens.

 This is called The Lighthouse Spotlight by Jan Lun Lee and I like it. Plus it's of the Macintosh building at the Glasgow school of art, which is an amazing place. 

This was featured in Good magazine, I think. It was kind of awhile ago so I'm not sure. Sometimes I wish my brain remembered things better.

Once again, not sure where I found this, but aren't they cute?

Ok, finally something I know at least a tiny bit of information about. These awesome guns were done by illustrator Jess Smith. I discovered them via www.itsnicethat.com on their weekly round up titled "Things". 

Below are two pieces by Daniel Curtis. The first is design for a playlist or something, you can also download the music fo free! Also, his illustration is pretty great (see typewriter).

 

I just really enjoy this valentine by Kate Spade (who would've guessed).

 

And this bracelet. I believe it's called "timeless" and it's by Rogan. Clever, eh?

I Really DO Believe in Advertising

So, one of the main reasons I've decided to start blogging is that I spend a lot of time on the internet. This really isn't that much of a problem, except that I keep finding such COOL SHIT and I don't know what to do with it. I follow several blogs and Twitter accounts, which often lead me even more blogs, sites, and Tweets and then I explore those and bookmark them or follow them -- which only adds to the problem. Seriously, I have a bookmark folder about a mile long titled Things I Like. And now, all of these findings can be yours! That's right, I'm now going to be sharing the goods with you instead of selfishly hoarding them.

is one of my favorites. I'm a big fan of clever advertising and this blog gives me what I want. Today, when I went to get my fix, this gem was waiting for me: a camouflaged print ad from Ogilvy

 

This looks like a normal advertisement for powertools, but look closer, because it isn't.
